Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman has sought a two-month break from cricket amid uncertainty over his choice in the national team for the upcoming white ball series against Australia.

Sources said the left-hand hitter has presented a request to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in such a manner. Sources had recently indicated that a decision concerning Zaman’s consideration in the squad for the Australia visit will be made before evaluating his response.

Zaman had recently expressed worries on X about Babar’s exclusion from the second Test against England; expressing it sent a negative message. He featured that India didn’t drop Virat Kohli regardless of his poor performance from 2020 to 2023, encouraging the PCB to protect its players rather than make hasty choices.

After reports of his outburst at the PCB, it was accounted for that the Southpaw is in line to become the new white-ball captain of the Men dressed in green after Babar Azam’s resignation.

Those rumors were settled quickly as Fakhar Zaman was served a Show Cause Notice by the PCB for his tweets for Babar Azam, who was dropped from the Test side halfway through the Pakistan and England Test series. Fakhar had remarked that Babar should have been given a longer rope as he is Pakistan’s most formidable player.

Fakhar answered the Show Cause Notice by expressing that he would regard the institution but also expressed that he sent those tweets for Babar since he thought it was not the ideal choice to drop the star batter after his contributions to the Pakistan batting unit throughout the course of recent years.

While rumors about him being dropped from the ODI side began soon, it is clear that the bold opener is currently not completely fit and needs to be at his best when he rejoins the white-ball squad.

Pakistan’s tour of Australia for the three-match ODI and three-match T20I series is scheduled to begin on 4 November, under a week after the end of the Test series against England.
