A European Civil Aviation team has arrived in Pakistan for the first time, following directives from the European Union.
This milestone visit was made possible through the special efforts of Director General Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Nadir Shafi Dar. The two-member team, comprising Rustem Kabanbayev and Miguel Martin Lopez, arrived in Islamabad on Monday. The delegation would provide specialised training and certification to civil aviation security regulators at Islamabad International Airport.
According to a CAA spokesperson, the training will focus on implementing European-standard aviation security procedures, particularly in Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) and Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD). The initiative is aimed at enhancing Pakistan’s compliance with international aviation safety standards and strengthening the capacity of its regulatory personnel.
The European Union is spearheading the program, and the training will be held at Islamabad International Airport. Strengthening aviation security in accordance with international standards will be the main priority. Important topics such as the usage of Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD) and Explosives Trace Detection (ETD) will be covered in the training. These instruments are essential for identifying hazardous compounds and guaranteeing aviation safety.
The visit has been verified by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), which views it as a significant step in enhancing Pakistan’s airport security measures. The objective is to ensure that all security protocols adhere to the most recent international safety regulations and standards.
The timing of this breakthrough is significant for Pakistan’s aviation sector. The European Union recently allowed PIA to restart flights to European nations after lifting a flying ban.
Airblue, another Pakistani airline, has also been granted authorisation to run flights to Europe. These improvements show that people are becoming more confident in Pakistan’s aviation standards.
It is anticipated that the forthcoming training will assist Pakistan in upholding and enhancing its standing in the world for aviation safety. It also demonstrates the nation’s dedication to studying and implementing global aviation sector best practices.
The specialized training provided by the European Civil Aviation team is expected to positively impact international flights to and from Pakistan.
- Enhanced Security Standards:
By aligning Pakistan’s airport security protocols with international standards, the training will improve overall airport safety. This can boost confidence among international airlines and passengers, potentially leading to increased flight operations.
- Easing Restrictions:
The training aims to address security concerns that led to flight bans and restrictions by various countries. Improved security measures can help lift these restrictions, allowing Pakistani airlines to resume flights to destinations like the UK.
- Restored Direct Air Links:
Following the lifting of the EU ban on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the training will further support the restoration of direct air links between Pakistan and European destinations. This can enhance connectivity and facilitate smoother travel for passengers.
Overall, the training is a significant step towards improving Pakistan’s aviation security and expanding its international flight operations.
