To promote environment-friendly transportation in Lahore, the Lahore Transport Company (LTC) has initiated the procedure of establishing electric vehicles (EV) charging stations at 241 places across the city.

According to the report, the company has started identifying appropriate points in Lahore’s major parking areas for the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs.

A proposal has been formally submitted to the senior member of the Board of Sales, suggesting the set-up of charging stations at 241 major parking points throughout the city.

The session was attended by key officers, including the Secretary of Delivery, Member Colonies, Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, and different relevant authorities.

Each small-scale and huge-capacity charging hub will be developed to accommodate the city’s diverse vehicle population.

Site identification and surveys underway

SMBR Nabeel Javed told the Lahore administration to directly identify potential places for EV stations, especially in areas with high visitors and public accessibility.

He emphasized the need to conduct detailed surveys to set up charging units at major public and private parking spots throughout the city.

Furthermore, he stressed that a complete plan of action should be prepared in collaboration with transport companies and other involved departments to ensure powerful execution.

The inclusion of private parking operators in the project will also be considered to enlarge reach and utility.

Government Prioritizing Land Allocation and Execution

To fast-track the project, land allocation for charging station sites will be prioritized, with important approvals granted swiftly.

Nabeel Javed reiterated the management’s dedication to facilitating this transition toward electric mobility, underscoring its environmental and economic benefits.

The plan aims to cater to both small-scale and large-scale EV users, and a comprehensive survey is currently underway to ensure right placement and accessibility.

LTC is a public transit bus system established for the carrying of urban passengers in Lahore. It operates a bus rapid transit device in the metropolis. LTC was set up under the company’s ordinance of 1984, with the aim of merging several transport companies operating in Lahore together under one company.
