To make place for the next ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is thinking about moving the home series against the West Indies.
The decision was made in response to the PSL franchise owners’ proposal to hold the following season in February or March, which would interfere with the bilateral series against the West Indies.
It is important to note that Pakistan will host the West Indies for a three-match T20I series and a two-match Test series in February-March 2024.
Officials from the cricket board proposed transferring the first stage of the PSL to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during the governing council meeting because of a number of issues.
Officials from the PCB claimed that the expense of security arrangements was high and that famous cricketers from across the world were reluctant to travel to Pakistan for the league because of security issues.
Franchise owners, however, argued that the league should continue at home and rejected the concept of playing the first few games in the United Arab Emirates.
Additionally, it was claimed that club owners voiced their opposition to the league’s impending addition of two more teams, citing the league’s already constrained talent pool.
The eighth edition’s earnings, the women’s league, and other problems, like as broadcast rights, were also considered by the cricket board and franchise owners.
