In order to give passengers access to fresh food alternatives, Pakistan Railways intends to install high-quality dining facilities on the Allama Iqbal Express passenger train by September 2024.
“With the upgraded dining car’s capacity to hold up to 40 passengers at once, passengers will have a better experience with improved dining facilities,” a Ministry of Railways spokesman stated.
The representative stated that on the Bahauddin Zakariya, Tezgam Express, and Khyber Mail trains, Pakistan Railways has successfully added upscale lounge dining cars. Recently, a dining area with space for up to 34 people to sit and a dedicated prayer area were built to the Khyber Mail train, which runs between Karachi and Lahore.

The Khyber Mail train offers about forty different lunch options to its passengers, including fast food, Italian, and traditional Pakistani fare. “The agency is working hard to improve services, but it has limited resources. The official continued, “Pakistan Railways has chosen to increase passenger relaxation and sleeping facilities as well as cleanliness services in addition to the contemporary dining car facility.
The official emphasised that the dining car offers a restaurant-like experience with air conditioning and a comfortable ambience, allowing passengers to enjoy fine, delectable food like to what can be found in city restaurants. Modern kitchen amenities, including as microwave ovens and tandoors, are available in the dining car. Meals can also be served by waiters at the seats of customers.
