The long-awaited construction work commenced on the Khar Bypass road after a delay of over three months.

According to a statement released from the deputy commissioner’s office, “We are pleased to announce that construction work on the Khar Bypass road as part of the 71-kilometre-long Timergra-Khar-Mamad Gat Road has formally been started after a peaceful settlement of all issues, which had led to a delay in the start of work for several months.”

Work on the long-awaited project has finally begun when a team of district administration officials headed by additional assistant commissioner Sanaullah held effective talks with all stakeholders.

The statement further revealed that following the discussions, the stakeholders agreed to demolish all structures that were impeding the road’s construction.

Meanwhile, a source in the district administration stated that the start of construction work on the anticipated road project was originally scheduled for November last year, but was delayed due to opposition from a number of transporters, owners of bus stands in the Jinnah Bus terminal, and residents of Dag Qala and surrounding areas, who claimed the road would harm their businesses and land.

Last year, Faza Shakoor Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, inaugurated construction work on the Ghani Khan Road in the district.

In this regard, the minister said that the road will be built with high-quality materials and will be landscaped because it is a gateway to Charsadda. The construction and beautification of the Ghani Khan road project is expected to cost PKR 93 million. The project will increase trade activity in the area.

Similarly, the local legislators launched reconstruction efforts in several areas of the Bajaur tribal district.

The work on the 3-kilometre Mir Khan to Bararo road in the Arang area of Uthmankhel tehsil and the 1.5-kilometre Chaman to Paishto road in Khar tehsil was inaugurated by Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) & District Development Advisory Committee (DDAC) Chairman Ajmal Khan along with Member National Assembly (MNA) Guldad Khan.

Reports revealed that the projects will be completed at a cost of PKR 104 million under the Accelerated Implementation Programme (AIP).
