The Asia Cup 2023 should be held at a “neutral” location rather than in the host nation Pakistan, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board, which today clarified the views made by Najam Sethi, chairman of the management committee.
To resolve the deadlock that had been caused by the BCCI’s decision to not send its squad to Pakistan, Najam Sethi, referring to the media conference in Rawalpindi/Islamabad on Thursday, said he had informed the media on the hybrid model he had proposed to the ACC executives for the ACC Asia Cup.
I never mentioned the ICC or the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which is slated to take place in October, during the media conference on Thursday. In the past, no ICC forum has brought up or debated this issue, Sethi continued.
In light of this, the PCB is disturbed that a reputable English-language daily misquoted, misunderstood, and misrepresented Sethi’s remarks in a way that falsely suggested the PCB’s hybrid model was presented and discussed at the ICC.
The World Cup has not yet been discussed with the ICC, and the PCB is just in talks with the ACC about hosting the ACC Asia Cup at this time.
