The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has given the green light to a range of development projects valued at PKR 246 billion, aimed at bolstering the national infrastructure.
During a CDWP meeting chaired by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Dr. Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, several significant projects received approval.?One of these projects involves the construction of a new 105-kilometre single-line railway track connecting Thar Coal Mines to New Chhor Station. Additionally, an 18-kilometre double-line track with 4.2-kilometre loop lines from Bin Qasim to Port Qasim was approved.
The Thar Coal Rail Connectivity project, valued at PKR 55.97 billion, has been referred to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for endorsement.
This project focuses on integrating Thar Coal mines with the existing railway network, including last-mile connectivity to Port Qasim, to support the transportation needs of Pakistan’s growing economy. The Ministry of Railways is overseeing this project, aligning with the objectives of Vision 2025.
Furthermore, the CDWP has referred the revised plan for the construction of the New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA) to ECNEC for final approval, with an estimated cost of PKR 60.208 billion. The NGIA project aims to build the airport and its associated facilities on a 4,300-acre land parcel that has already been acquired.
Additionally, the CDWP approved a PKR 6.121 billion project focused on enhancing and widening the Spera Ragha Road from Khanozai Cross to Loralai Killa Saifullah. Another project greenlit by the CDWP is the Special Repair of 600 Passenger Coaches and 1,200 bogie wagons, with an estimated cost of PKR 3.95 billion.
These initiatives underscore Pakistan’s commitment to developing and improving its infrastructure to meet the demands of a growing economy and enhance transportation networks across the country.
