The world’s foremost producer of new energy automobiles (NEVs), in collaboration with Mega Motor Company (MMC), has initiated vehicle distributions in Pakistan and intends to supply as many as 100 vehicles within the first 48 hours of operation.

Since Friday, BYD customers in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad have begun receiving their vehicles. MMC has established BYD’s Experience and Care centers in key locations across Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi. BYD and MMC plan to open 15 centers in total by 2025 due to the anticipated high demand for NEVs.

According to Lei Jian, BYD Pakistan’s country head, the company’s NEVs and technologies are expected to make a significant contribution to Pakistan’s green development path. The first customers to receive their BYD vehicles are in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. Up to 100 deliveries are anticipated within the first 48 hours of operation. Mega Motor has opened BYD Experience & Care centers in all three cities to help with this expansion. These centers give customers access to the most recent NEV technology and after-sales services offered by the company.

The launch of BYD’s SEAL and ATTO 3 models demonstrates a growing belief in Pakistan’s developing automobile market. By the end of 2025, BYD and MMC intend to open 15 additional centers across the nation in response to rising demand for electric and hybrid vehicles. Pakistan, the world’s fifth-largest nation by population, has seen a steady influx of Chinese automakers, including Great Wall Motor, SAIC Motor, and Chongqing Changan Automobile, competing alongside Japanese brands such as Toyota and Honda. However, EV sales remain a small segment of the overall market.

Country Head of BYD Pakistan Lei Jian said, “It is an honor to embark on this crucial development chapter in Pakistan. Through technological advancement, BYD has long been committed to bringing people’s dreams of a better life to fruition. We are convinced that BYD’s new energy vehicles and technologies will significantly advance Pakistan’s green development efforts.

Danish Khaliq, Mega Motor Company’s vice president of sales and strategy, stated, “We are thrilled to begin vehicle deliveries across Pakistan.” This is the beginning of an exciting journey for BYD and our customers as we introduce world-class NEV technology to Pakistan to move the country toward a future that is cleaner and more sustainable.

Last month, BYD shipped its first batch of electric vehicles (EVs) to Pakistan as part of its expansion into the automotive industry. Karachi Port Trust (KPT) processed the commercial shipment at the Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT).

In August 2024, BYD officially entered the Pakistani market with a launch event at the Expo Centre in Lahore. Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb was also at the event, and he praised the move as a significant step toward environmentally friendly transportation. Mega Motor Company (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary of Hub Power Company (HUBCO), and BYD Auto Industry Company Ltd formed a partnership to produce, market, and distribute BYD automobiles in Pakistan in October 2024.

Technical licensing is included in the agreement, paving the way for additional investment in the country’s EV industry. Since its inception in 1994, BYD has established itself as a global market leader in electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles and is renowned for its novel approach to environmentally friendly transportation. The company is going to make a big impact on Pakistan’s changing automotive landscape by selling electric vehicles there.
