Binance founder Changpeng Zhao has been appointed as strategic advisor to Pakistan Crypto Council by government of Pakistan.
The Pakistan government has appointed Changpeng Zhao (CZ), founder of Binance and an influential figure in Web3, as a strategic advisor to the Pakistan Crypto Council, in step with a statement from the finance department on Monday.
The statement was made in a Pakistan Crypto Council assembly with CZ, the finance division said.
The meeting was chaired by the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, and brought together key authorities and stakeholders, consisting of the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, and the Federal Secretaries for Law and IT, it added.
“That is a landmark moment for Pakistan,” stated Aurangzeb. “We are sending a clear message to the sector: Pakistan is open for innovation. With Zhao onboard, we’re accelerating our vision to make Pakistan a regional powerhouse for Web3, digital finance, and blockchain-driven growth.”

Zhao, who founded Binance—presently the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange—is predicted to provide strategic guidance on regulation, infrastructure development, education, and the broader adoption of digital assets throughout Pakistan.
“Pakistan is a country of 240 million people, over 60 percent of whom are under the age of 30. The potential here is limitless,” Zhao was quoted as saying.
The Pakistan Crypto Council was officially launched last month to combine blockchain technology and digital assets into the national financial landscape. In March, entrepreneur Bilal Bin Saqib was appointed as lead adviser to the finance minister on crypto-related matters.
Commenting on Zhao’s appointment, percent CEO Bilal Bin Saqib said, “Pakistan is starting its doors to the future of finance. And who higher to guide us in this journey than Zhao — a pioneer who built the world’s largest crypto exchange and changed the manner billions consider monetary freedom.”
As per the finance division, Zhao will collaborate closely with both regulatory agencies and the private sector to develop a “lawful, inclusive, and internationally competitive” cryptocurrency framework in Pakistan.
