In a significant step closer to enhancing public transportation in Balochistan, the provincial government has acquired 21 brand-new pink and green buses to serve the cities of Quetta and Turbat. The initiative aims to expand access to reliable and safe public transport, especially for girls.
Public transport expansion in Quetta and Turbat
As per the transportation sector, twelve green and five pink buses will be allocated throughout Quetta, whereas Turbat will receive four green buses. The pink buses are primarily designated for female passengers, highlighting the administration’s dedication to enhancing women’s safety and travel ease.
The new buses are predicted to be operational within the next few months. As a part of this development, officials also confirmed a variety in the number of public transport routes within Quetta. One of the new routes will cover about 32 kilometers, connecting the Assistant Commissioner’s office in Kuchlak to Mianghundi in Saryab.

Initially, four green buses will start operating in Turbat, the divisional headquarters of the Makran division, while four pink buses will be launched for girl passengers in Quetta.
“As many as 12 new green buses can be included in the fleet already operating in Quetta,” Mr. Kakar said. “These buses will perform on new routes to offer transport service to other areas of the provincial capital.”
Currently, 8 buses are working between Sariab and IT University via Quetta City.
Mr. Kakar said the provincial authorities aim to increase the green and pink bus offerings to Kolchak and the Dasht area as well.
