Famous Pakistani singer Atif Aslam has dismissed the rumours circulating online which referred that he is opposed to singing in Saudi Arabia due to proximity to religious sites.
In a statement given recently, the musician cleared the air and said he had performed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, in the past which he mentioned, “the best way of proving our opinion on the topic”.
Earlier, several local media outlets reported that Aslam was against singing in Saudi Arabia because his conscience could not accept performing near to the sacred places.
Singer and entertainer Atif Aslam is considered one of the most powerful figures in Pakistani media outlets and is thus widely respected. Recently, an explanation supposedly made by the ‘Tera Hone Laga Hoon’ singer won commendation from all corners. It was reported that Atif denied acting in Saudi Arabia because of the closeness to religious sites.
A few media houses and artists shared that Atif rejected, citing the explanation, “My heart doesn’t accept performing songs close to holy places.” Fans, impressed by the choice, hugely shared the post, making it go viral.

Currently, a viral statement about Atif Aslam is flowing via social media. Practically all portals, sites, and Instagram pages have shared the news, ensuring that Atif Aslam expressed he wouldn’t act in Saudi Arabia since his heart can’t accept singing near the holy spots.
Notably, no media portal has referred to a source for this statement in its articles. The statement has spread quickly across platforms without confirmation.
Atif Aslam performed in Riyadh in 2019 and joins various Pakistani artists currently making waves with concerts in Saudi Arabia. Some speculate that a social media client could have spread this word following Ali Zafar’s performance.
Saudi Arabia has hosted numerous high-profile concerts and entertainment events since Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman lifted the ban on music events in 2017. This change has welcomed global stars to perform in the Kingdom, such as Korean pop sensation BTS, who made history as the first non-Arab artists to play at Riyadh’s King Fahd International Stadium in 2019, drawing thousands of fans.
