In a groundbreaking move to ensure transparency within the annual matriculation exams, the Punjab school education department (SED) has deployed face detection technology for the first time.
Muzammil Mehmood, the chairman of the Task Force for Education, and Rana Sikandar Hayat, the minister of school education, visited important testing locations on Raiwind Road to see how things were set up and to ensure that the tests were administered equitably. They conducted surprise inspections to make sure the procedure was transparent and everything was proceeding as planned.
Throughout their visit, officials verified students’ identities using 3D barcodes earlier than analyzing exam arrangements and gathering student comments on the new procedures.
Along with other new safeguards like 3D bar-code verification and QR-coded roll number slips, the deployment of facial detection technology is part of an effort to avoid cheating. The number of cheating cases has decreased by 90% as a result of these successful measures. Students are now able to take exams in a more reliable and safe setting thanks to this.
These new technologies aim to guarantee that tests are given to pupils honestly and equitably, free from the influence of cheating. The roll number slips with QR codes make it simpler to monitor and control the exam process, and the face detection system aids in confirming students’ identities.
The Punjabi examination system now has much more credibility because to these actions. The decline in instances of cheating demonstrates how important technology may be in maintaining educational equity. Speaking at the initiative, Minister Hayat stated that the implementation of the improved monitoring system has correctly reduced examination misconduct incidences.
“Raiwind road exam centers have been previously known for rampant cheating, but with our new measures, we have successfully curbed the cheating mafia by 90%, ensuring an unprecedented level of transparency in exams,” he stated.

Official data show that said cases of cheating have dropped from 15-20 per day the previous year to just 2-3 this year. This system supports the Punjab leader minister’s goal of achieving complete examination system transparency by the following year.
Modernizing the exam system
• The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore introduced QR-coded online roll variety slips for the first time to modernize examination approaches.
• The QR code system allows for quick access to private data and verification, minimizing fraud.
• An automated workforce deployment system guarantees fair duty assignments, eliminating favoritism and malpractice.
In line with Controller of Examinations Zahid Mian, these technological upgrades are designed to provide a comfy and efficient exam experience.
The 2025 matriculation exams began on March 4 and will finish on March 24.
