Federal Minister for Communications, Aleem Khan has declared that the development of the Karachi-Sukkur Motorway will start in 2025.
Addressing a meeting in Islamabad, Aleem Khan said that the motorway will connect Karachi Port to Sukkur, giving an essential connection between the nation’s north and south.
As per Khan, the motorway’s construction will be embraced through a public-private partnership, with the government welcoming the Sindh government to take part in the task. If a partnership isn’t established, the federal government will bear the expenses of the project.

Additionally, after the construction of the Karachi-Sukkur Motorway, the North-South Motorway network in the nation will be completed. Aleem Khan said that the Karachi-Sukkur Motorway project is to be begun as a Public Private Partnership.
In any case, if a Public-Private Organization isn’t available, the government itself will bear the expense of this project.
He said that this motorway would end up being an achievement in the nation’s development, particularly in the transportation of commercial goods. Aleem Khan expressed that in the next 25 years, this motorway will give the government Rs3,000 billion as a benefit.
He said that work on the Karachi-Sukkur Motorway will begin soon in the year 2025, Insha’Allah… so this important project of national development can be finished in the shortest possible time.
Earlier, the Sindh government and Centre agreed to construct the M6 Motorway on a separate track from Karachi to Sukkur, instead of initiating it from Hyderabad to Sukkur.
They also agreed to explore the possibility of building the motorway through a public-private partnership (PPP) or through a consortium to be formed by the Sindh and federal governments.
The agreement came in a meeting at the CM House which was also attended by Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, CM’s Secretary Raheem Shaikh, Secretary Works Mohammad Ali Shaikh, Federal Communication Secretary Ali Sher Mehsud, NHA Chairman Shaharyar Sultan, Director Hassan Shah, Member NHA Sindh Zone Parkash Lehano and Member West Zone Basharat.
