The government has announced an increase in the Hajj quota, allowing an additional 5,000 pilgrims to perform Hajj under the official scheme.

According to sources in the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the collection of new Hajj applications is set to begin from tomorrow. Under the official Hajj scheme, 81,500 applications have already been received.

The remaining quota of 5,000 will now be filled through fresh applications. However, the Ministry has decided not to conduct another ballot for these applications.

The Ministry stated that Hajj tickets would be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. A proposal to limit the application submission period to five days is currently under consideration.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs had announced these plans during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Religious Affairs revealed this news, which was chaired by Aamir Dogar.

The session completely revolved around preparations for the upcoming Hajj season, with a strong emphasis on ensuring that food quality for pilgrims remains uncompromised. The committee also explored ways to enhance training programs to better guide and support pilgrims throughout their journey.

Committee member Mujahid Ali underscored the importance of comprehensive training for individuals performing Hajj, highlighting the need for proper instruction to ensure a smooth experience. Aamir Dogar, the committee chair, acknowledged significant progress in raising awareness and providing practical guidance at Hajj camps across the country.

 Addressing Concerns

During the session, committee member Asiya Naz Tanoli raised a concern about the absence of Pakistan Houses in Makkah and Madinah. In response, the Secretary of Religious Affairs clarified that Saudi laws prohibit the construction of such facilities on independently owned land.

The Secretary also noted that certain services that were previously offered for free, such as access to water coolers, now come with a cost. Despite these changes, he assured the committee that the Ministry is fully committed to ensuring that pilgrims have access to all essential facilities during their stay.

 Looking Ahead

With the opening of applications for 5,000 additional pilgrims, the Ministry aims to provide more opportunities for Pakistanis to perform Hajj with the grand opening of five thousand pilgrim’s applications. The renewed focus on food quality, enhanced training, and logistical support reflects the government’s dedication to improving the overall experience for pilgrims.

These initiatives are expected to nip the key challenges in the bud and leave no stone unturning by making sure that Hajj participants are well-prepared for this spiritual journey.
