Punjab dominates with 116 medals as day 4 of Quaid-e-Azam Games wraps up

The day 4 of the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games concluded with at the Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad on late Monday.

Athletes from across the country continued to deliver thrilling performances, with Punjab maintaining its stronghold at the top of the medals table.

By the end of Day 4, a total of 313 medals were distributed among participating units, including 92 gold, 92 silver, and 129 bronze.

Leading the standings with an impressive total of 116 medals, Punjab secured 53 gold, 40 silver and 23 bronze medals, demonstrating dominance across multiple disciplines.

Balochistan emerged as a strong contender, claiming 12 gold, 10 silver and 17 bronze medals, totaling 39 medals.

Sindh stood firm in third place, earning 11 gold, 13 silver and 19 bronze medals for a total of 43 medals.

With consistent performances, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa collected 10 gold, 17 silver and 24 bronze medals, reaching a total of 51 medals.

The host city Islamabad shone with 5 gold, 6 silver and 26 bronze medals, accumulating a total of 37 medals.

Azad Jammu & Kashmir displayed grit and determination, earning 1 gold, 4 silver and 12 bronze medals, totaling 17 medals.

Although gold eluded them, Gilgit-Baltistan’s athletes secured 2 silver and 8 bronze medals, reaching a total of 10 medals.

The grand unveiling ceremony of the Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games trophy was held on Friday afternoon at the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) in Islamabad.

The trophy was unveiled by Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist, Arshad Nadeem, who expressed his enthusiasm and encouragement for the young athletes during the event.

Teams comprising male and female athletes from all the four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and Islamabad will participate in the games.

The games will feature competitions in various disciplines, including athletics, badminton, boxing, football, hockey, judo, kabaddi, karate, squash, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting and wrestling.

Quaid-e-Azam interprovincial games 2024 are about to start from the 13th of December claimed by the PSB. Pakistan Sports Board has decided the event of these games is likely to occur in Pakistan Sports Complex, ISB. Athletes from all corners of the country from every province will come to join the event.

Boosting the serotonin levels of athletes 

  • These games will pose various positive impacts for instance raising the serotonin levels of the participants. 
  • Engaging in sports activities stimulates the reward system of the brain by actually triggering the extreme release of serotonin. 
  • Serotonin is responsible for creating feelings of happiness, excitement, and calmness. But the impact of it varies as per the type of game and other individual factors. 

 Fostering National Unity Through Sports   

The start of the Quaid-e-Azam Games intends to promote national unity and spear a flame of inspiration in the young generation of our country by providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and sportsmanship.  

The event is set to feature 15 sports disciplines, with competitions held in both individual and team categories.   

The sports lineup includes:

  • Squash   
  • Badminton   
  • Football   
  • Swimming   
  • Hockey   
  • Judo   
  • Table Tennis   
  • Kabaddi   
  • Karate   
  • Taekwondo   
  • Weightlifting   
  • Wrestling   

Both male and female athletes will take part, with marquee events such as the 100-meter sprint, hurdles, football matches, and hockey games expected to draw significant attention.   

 Attractive Cash Prizes and Awards   

The PSB has announced a generous prize pool of PKR 20 million to reward outstanding performances.   

For individual events:   

  • Gold Medalists will receive PKR 20,000.   
  • Silver Medalists will be awarded PKR 15,000.   
  • Bronze Medalists will earn PKR 10,000.   

For team events, trophies and medals collectively worth PKR 4 million will be distributed among the winners, making this competition one of the most lucrative opportunities for young athletes in Pakistan.   

 Ensuring Fair Play and Compliance   

To maintain the integrity of the Games, the PSB has implemented strict eligibility criteria. Only athletes under the age of 22 and meeting their regional requirements are permitted to participate. Any violations, including misconduct or doping, will result in penalties and immediate disqualification.

The competitions will adhere to international standards, with minor modifications overseen by technical delegates to suit local conditions.  These games are focused on fair play and a thrilling experience for spectators by raising their serotonin levels, the Games are expected to be an enthralling and landmark event in the sporting history of Pakistan. 

 A Spectacular Experience for Spectators   

The organizers of the event make sure that the fans can also attend this mega event and can get free entry passes to join the games based on first come, first served. The organizers also urged the spectators to join the event at the Pakistan Sports Complex. Moreover, these interprovincial games will prove to be an impetus for igniting the passion of young generations for sports. Besides this, this initiative of conducting games will set a brilliant example of inspiration for the upcoming generation of athletes.
