Former Pakistan captain and Test cricketer Sarfaraz Ahmed explained his new statement, which started speculation about his retirement from international cricket.

In a meeting, the Champions Trophy 2017 winning captain took the time to clarify his upcoming plans.

Sarfaraz Ahmed said that he is still effectively playing cricket and willing to take advantage of any possibilities that present themselves, regardless of the persevering reports that he is resigning in the wake of being rejected from the selection for the South Africa visit.

During a meeting, the 37-year-old wicketkeeper-hitter affirmed that he is still effectively playing cricket, no matter what his selection status in the national group.

“Yes, I said ‘nothing remains to say’ recently. Look, I’m still playing cricket and will profit from whatever opportunity I get,” Sarfaraz explained. “Taking everything into account, that is my own choice. At the point when I feel that I should leave cricket, I will quit.”

Sarfaraz, who appeared for Pakistan in 2007, has had a renowned career, addressing the national team in 54 Tests, 117 ODIs, and 61 T20Is, hoarding 6,164 runs, including six centuries and 32 half-centuries.

Outstandingly, he captained Pakistan to their maiden ICC Champions Trophy win in 2017, defeating arch-rivals India in the last. Sarfaraz also holds the record for leading Pakistan to 11 consecutive T20I series victories, the most by any Pakistani captain.

His last appearance for Pakistan came during a Test series against Australia last year, while his last white-ball game was in November 2021.
