Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department implemented a ban on hunting threatened species like quail, locally called batair, on Thursday.  

To safeguard the endangered bird, the KP government has stopped the issuance or allocation of permits and licenses for quail hunting.  

The Wildlife Chief Conservator has notified all provincial conservators of this decision. As per the notification delivered by the Wildlife Department, the ban is anticipated to remain in place until the quail population in the province demonstrates to increase.
