Sindh government to host National Games in early 2025

In a meeting, led by Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar in the presence of different authorities including Secretary Sports Jalaluddin Maher and Secretary Sindh Olympics Ahmed Ali Rajput, it was concluded that the Sindh Government will have the National Games in late January or early February coming year. 

Sindh, who had last directed the country’s elite spectacle way back in 2007, has been allocated the 35th version of the nation’s premier occasion whose timetable is ideal as Pakistan should have the fourteenth South Asian Games early next year. 

During the council meeting, the provincial minister was briefed in detail by the Secretary of Sports and different authorities about the arrangements for the National Games. Minster Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar expressed that the Sindh government is working hard to host the National Games in Karachi at the end of January or the start of February. 

The minister guided the Division of Sports to maintain committees for venues, transportation, management, and selection connected with the National Games. He also referenced that he would examine the grant for organizing the games with the Chief Minister. Events of various games competitions in the 35th Public Games are to be held outside the National Coaching Center.

The work for the 35th National Games in Karachi is happening at a slow speed although a few months are left. This time it has been suggested that the contests of various disciplines be coordinated on developed sports foundations in Karachi where offices available are superior to those at the National Coaching Centre. It is relevant to take note that during the last few years, the federal government and Sindh government fostered various stadiums and sports complexes. 

Gaming Places 

Sources included that as the tartan track of the National Coaching Centre is 27 years old, it would be better that this time the sports contests be coordinated at NED University’s recently laid tartan track. Sources said NED has a brilliant games foundation. It is being viewed that competitions of baseball, karate, and wrestling be coordinated at NED College. 

Sources additionally said that football matches would be held at KPT Football Complex, volleyball at KPT Sports Complex, badminton and tug of war at Karachi University (KU), boxing at Bahria Karsaz, archery and basketball and at Dow College, boxing at People’ Stadium. Table Tennis competitions will be held at Islamia Club in Soldier Bazar.

Tennis contests might be coordinated at the tennis courts of Naya Nazimabad, kabaddi at Sindh Sports Complex in Nazimabad, weightlifting at KMC Sports Complex at Kashmir Street, and taekwondo at Scout Base camp in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
