Govt expedites digitization, 5G, IT, Telecom initiatives following SIFC recommendations

The Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) and the Ministry of IT and Telecom have received directions from the government to accelerate the digitization of procurement procedures.

The objective of this programme is to improve openness and expedite government functions.

By using the cloud services procurement framework to all upcoming procurements, these actions are anticipated to greatly increase agency-wide efficiency within the government.

MD PPRA has been assigned the responsibility of expeditiously concluding the system’s approval process and guaranteeing its nationwide adoption.

Aims are being made to move the 5G spectrum licence auction forward in the meantime. To remove regulatory obstacles to the rapid rollout of 5G technology in Pakistan, the Law Division has been directed to accelerate the conclusion of pending 5G cases in the Islamabad and Sindh High Courts.

The Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Affairs has given the Pakistan startup fund an additional Rs 235 million, which will help the technology industry even more.

Furthermore, Rs 229 million has been set aside for the E-Rozgar Programme, which prioritises the development of digital skills and youth entrepreneurship.

These initiatives, which highlight cooperative efforts to address long-standing problems and increase governance transparency within Pakistan’s developing IT and telecom sectors, represent important advancements under the SIFC framework.
