The Chinese tech firm Huawei will work with the Pakistani government to train 200,000 people as part of a massive project to provide young people with IT skills. This program’s goals are to empower Pakistan’s youth, who make up 70% of the population, and grow the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector.
Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the minister of information technology and telecommunication, made this declaration during a budget discussion. An agreement made during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s most recent visit to China led to the creation of the training programme.
Minister Khawaja declared, “The current administration is implementing effective measures to promote ICT in the nation.” “The country’s youth are receiving information technology training under the Prime Minister’s vision.”
The programme presents a viable way to help young people find work. The government intends to provide young Pakistanis with possibilities to obtain well-paying professions both domestically and abroad by providing them with in-demand IT skills. The anticipated duration of the training programmes, which offer a targeted and effective means of earning important credentials, is three to six months.

The Pakistani government has previously supported youth education and digital access, and this plan expands on such efforts. Minister Khawaja brought up achievements from previous administrations, like the training of 100,000 youth in IT. Furthermore, previous programmes offered students interest-free loans, scholarships, and even laptop distributions depending on merit.
During its previous tenure, the present government, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, also gave 100,000 laptops to young people. These coordinated initiatives demonstrate the government’s continued dedication to closing the digital gap and giving Pakistan’s youth the tools they need to succeed in the digital era.
By collaborating with Huawei on this extensive training initiative, the Pakistani government is making great strides in developing a workforce that is both competitive and highly trained in the IT industry. This programme could help Pakistan flourish overall and open up new economic prospects for young people living there.
