After a prolonged period of 16 years, the dispute over the Northern Bypass Road in Peshawar has been resolved. This development is a significant milestone for Peshawar’s infrastructure and regional trade. The resolution was achieved through the consent of the Kukikhel tribes to transfer land ownership to the National Highway Authority (NHA), which has allowed the project to move forward.

It is anticipated that the completion of the Northern Bypass, specifically the section in the Khyber district from Takhta Baig to Nasir Bagh Road, will significantly lessen traffic congestion in the city. Additionally, it will only take 18 minutes to get from Takhta Baig to Motorway M1. In addition, traffic on important routes like Jamrud Road, University Road, Ring Road, and GT Road will be significantly eased by the Northern Bypass Ring Road, which is expected to open by December 31, 2024.

This project is essential not only for enhancing the everyday commute within Peshawar but also for enabling more efficient vehicle movement between Afghanistan, Khyber, and the motorway, hence reducing traffic at important locations such as Hayatabad, Ring Road, and Karkhano Market. Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, the chief secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has thanked all parties for their assistance in coming to this arrangement.

It is anticipated that the Northern Bypass Road’s completion in Peshawar will benefit nearby companies and trade.

  • Facilitated Entry into Markets:

For companies that depend on the effective flow of commodities, the bypass will make marketplaces and transportation hubs easier to reach.

  • Decrease in Congestion in the Traffic:

Businesses can anticipate quicker delivery times, which will lower the cost and duration of goods transportation, by easing traffic congestion.

  • Increased Regional Trade:

It is anticipated that the bypass will make it easier for cars to travel between Afghanistan, Khyber, and the motorway, which may promote more cross-border trade.

  • Development of the Economy:

The initiative, which has been called a “game changer for the region,” is anticipated to promote economic growth, draw in investment, and maybe create jobs.

All things considered, the Northern Bypass Road is positioned to boost the local economy and improve the operational effectiveness of local companies.
