In order to secure the growth and prosperity of their respective populations, Pakistan and Iran have decided to further deepen their bilateral trade relations and encourage commercial activity along their borders.
Following the signing of bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding here at the PM House on Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Dr. Ebrahim Raisi spoke to the media jointly. Shehbaz Sharif stated that both countries could bring development and prosperity to their respective regions by transforming their borders into hubs of business activity under the Iranian President’s leadership.
According to the prime minister, the two parties had in-depth conversations during their meeting about a range of topics of shared interest, including trade, investment, economy, diplomacy, security, and culture.
Along with a powerful delegation, the Iranian President arrived in Pakistan on Monday for a three-day official visit. He stated that the current trade volume between the two friendly nations is not indicative of their true potential and that they aim to raise it to US$10 billion annually in five years.
He emphasised that in addition to strengthening security, measures were required to improve border markets in order to stimulate business and trade operations at the border areas.
In addition, the two sides determined in their meetings to further promote the bilateral ties between the two nations in the trade and economic sectors.

He stated that the two sides might strengthen their cooperation on a number of topics, including as the fight against terrorism, initiatives to stop organised crime, and smuggling.
Along with continuing high-level cooperation, President Dr. Raisi emphasised that it was critical to further deepen bilateral ties for the sake of the two nations.
He claimed that Iran and Pakistan have strong and long-standing links that allow them to fully utilise them for the benefit and prosperity of both countries.
Iran, according to President Raisi, has made enormous strides in science and technology and is prepared to offer its expertise and experiences.
The great people of Pakistan have always supported the oppressed people of various parts of the world, especially the people of Gaza, and have always defended Islam and raised their voices for the freedom of Quds Al-Sharif, according to President Dr. Ebrahim Raisi of Iran, who is wishing the people of Pakistan best wishes on behalf of the Iranian people and the Supreme Leader.
He thought that the existing circumstances in Palestine were the reason why people were suffering now in other parts of the world. He added that while claiming to defend human rights, international organisations like the United Nations and UN Security Council were unable to fulfil their fundamental duties.
President Raisi underlined that people of all religions, including those of Iran and Pakistan, demanded a stop to the brutality and tyranny directed at the Palestinian people.
The president of Iran held the belief that the global community’s and the Palestinian resistance’s adopted positions would eventually come to pass.
The prime minister stated that throughout centuries, ties between Pakistan and Iran have been extremely tight and fraternal.
He said that there were historical ties between the two nations, as well as shared religious and cultural beliefs.
PM Shehbaz emphasised that for the sake of both parties as well as the growth and prosperity of the area, these close and fraternal ties should be enhanced and fostered.
A Memorandum of Understanding for Legal Cooperation between the Iranian Ministry of Justice and the Pakistani Ministry of Law and Justice was also signed by the two parties. The Memorandum was signed by Iranian Minister of Law and Justice Amin Hossein Rahimi and his Iranian colleague Azam Nazeer Tarar.
An agreement between the governments of two nations on security cooperation was also ratified during the signing ceremony.
