Pakistan Railway Police has successfully launched a modern e-police post mobile application (app) for accessing criminal records. According to PRP sources, the application was created with the assistance of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and is linked to criminal records from other police services, including the Punjab and Sindh Police.
The app would allow police officers and staff to easily track suspects’ movements at railway stations, criminals traveling by train, and vehicles with stolen or fake license plates near railway stations. According to sources, the PRP trained 20 employees to use the application.
Pakistan Railways (PR) officials revealed that approximately 9,986 acres of land worth billions of rupees were discovered illegally occupied by individuals and various government departments across the country.
Around 3,287 acres were occupied in Punjab, 832 acres under encroachment in Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa, 5,180 acres in Sindh, and 687 acres in Balochistan, the official said.
However, he claimed that during various anti-encroachment operations across the country over the last five years, Pakistan Railway recovered up to 955 acres of land. The official stated that around 3,287 acres of land in Punjab, 5,180 acres in Sindh, 832 acres in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 687 acres in Balochistan had been encroached upon.
He claimed, Around 476 acres retrieved in Punjab; 133 acres in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 327 acres in Sindh, and only 19 acres in Balochistan had been retrieved by the Pakistan Railways.
According to the official, in light of the Supreme Court orders, anti-encroachment operations for reclaiming encroached railway land were launched. All divisional superintendents have been issued a joint procedure order, sources said.
The anti-encroachment schedules are prepared on a three months basis and sent to all the officials concerned in line with the joint procedure order, the official further remarked.
Furthermore, he stated that PR had decided to speed up its ongoing anti-encroachment operation against land grabbers across the country to recoup its land from various individuals, groups, and business organizations utilizing it for commercial, residential, and agricultural purposes for decades.
The official added, The anti-encroachment operation will be launched with the assistance of railway police and district administrations of the relevant provincial governments.
